In the first half Blaszczykowski scored the first goal of the match at the 39 minutes for Poland. In the second half was Shaqiri who scored for Switzerland at the 82 minute and drew the result. At the end of the 90 minutes the result was 1-1.
Extra time were needed to be played in order to know the winner. None of the team scored so the penalties were the last chance in order to qualifie. From the 11 metres Poland's player scored all the five penalties, Switzerland's players scored four. In the end, after extra time: Switzerland 4 - 5 Poland.
Poland is the first qualified squad for the quarter-finals.
